Airsoft guns provide a way to use a realistic gun without having to deal with expensive guns and bullets. Airsoft guns fire BBs that are either shaped as circles or pellets. The ammunition is perfect for simulating actual battles without injuring other people. Airsoft enthusiasts often equip themselves with other accessories such as grenades and other attachments.
To start practicing, you can buy targets, and it’s always important to get the proper safety gear such as helmets, masks and vests. To get started with airsoft gaming you need to get all of the proper equipment, so start with a gun and move on from there. You can then join in a game to get the feel for your gun and learn the different rules.
What Games Should You Try First?
Most beginners get started with a re-enactment, military simulation or game modifier. A re-enactment is similar to the civil war reenactments you hear about. It takes an actual battle that happened in the past and puts you in the shoes of one of the soldiers. You get to move around, shoot your gun and experience what actual soldiers go through during war.
A military simulation is not necessarily based on a past battle, but it takes military tactics and maneuvers to show you how actual soldiers fight. You might learn how to raid a building or snipe an opponent. These military simulations are great and they help you understand the basics of combat in order to improve your fighting skills for the future. The simulations are actual battles, where each team receives a score, but depending on the place you play you might get some training and guidance before going into battle.
Modifiers come into play when you want to change rules or tactics during a game. It usually involves people who have been playing airsoft for a while and want to incorporate a new spin on the game. Game modifiers might include having a spy on one of the teams, some people who are immortal or mercy rules. Once you get a feel for the overall gaming strategies in airsoft you can play with some folks that include modifiers in the game.
The Standard Airsoft Rules
To start off, everyone must have approved guns and wear protection during an airsoft game. You split up into two different teams and spread out on the battlefield. You can play where the team who kills all the other players wins or that you have to capture a flag. When you get hit by a BB you are considered dead and you have to sit out until the next game. If you do get hit then you must yell “Hit” and move off the game field. If you hit one of your teammates, they are killed, but if a bullet bounces off an item and hits you it doesn’t count. One other primary rules is that if two people shoot each other they are both out, regardless of who hit who first.
